2008
& 2009 National ProStart Invitational Competition (NPSI) Location
Announced ...
The
National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF)
recently announced that San Diego, CA will be the site of the
2008 and 2009 National ProStart Student Invitational. Held annually
in April, this rigorous competition brings together teams of
ProStart high school state champions from around the country
to compete for the national title, as well as scholarships for
post-secondary education.
"San
Diego met or exceeded all of our requirements for a National
ProStart Student Invitational host city - top-tier destination
city, expansive competition space and strong support from the
state restaurant association," said Mary M. Adolf, president
and chief operating officer of the NRAEF. "We look forward to
partnering with the California Restaurant Association Educational
Foundation to showcase the talents of these dedicated students
who are the future leaders of the restaurant and foodservice
industry."
The
National ProStart Student Invitational operates on a biannual
cycle, returning to a host city for two consecutive years. The
7th annual competition will be held April 24-26, 2008 at the
Town and Country Resort & Convention Center in San Diego
. The resort was chosen for its onsite convention center, plentiful
accommodations, airy grounds and central location. San Diego
will play host to the top teams from participating states who
will compete in two competitions: culinary and management. At
the event, industry leaders interact with the students, helping
fuel their passion for the industry and the opportunities available
within it.
The
2007 National ProStart Student Invitational is taking place
in Charlotte , NC .
Nationwide,
more than 54,000 students in 46 states, territories and districts
are served by ProStart, a two-year curriculum that blends classroom
learning with mentored work experience to teach high school
students the management skills needed for a career in the restaurant
and foodservice industry. For more information on the ProStart
