TIPSŪ Training
presents a practical, common sense approach to serving alcohol responsibly in any setting. TIPSŪ training helps prevent people who are drinking from hurting themselves, injuring others, or damaging property.

 

Who should offer the TIPSŪ training program to their employees?
TIPSŪ training is designed specifically for foodservice managers, lodging managers and front-of-the-house employees who work in establishments that serve alcohol.


What are the Benefits of TIPSŪ Training?

 

Increased Staff Knowledge and Ability

  • TIPSŪ training helps your staff recognize signs of intoxication, spot underage drinkers and prevent sales to minors, and understand the difference between people enjoying themselves and those getting into trouble with alcohol.
  • TIPSŪ training teaches your staff how to use proven strategies to prevent alcohol related problems and handle alcohol related problems with greater confidence when they do occur.

 

Legal Protection

  • In third-party liquor liability lawsuits TIPSŪ provides a "Reasonable effort” defense.
  • TIPSŪ training provides a means of mitigating ABC violations, often resulting in lowered fines and a waiver of license suspensions.


Insurance Benefits

  • Many insurance companies provide discounts to establishments whose employees are TIPSŪ certified.

How Much Does TIPSŪ Training Cost?

WV HEAT provides TIPSŪ training for a registration fee of $300 per class with a maximum of 20 people per class.
